Plagiarism Policy
The Journal of Complementary Therapies in Midwifery and Nursing (JCTMN) maintains a strict policy against plagiarism to uphold academic integrity and the originality of scholarly work.
1. Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism involves the presentation of another person's work, ideas, data, or words as one’s own without proper acknowledgment. This includes, but is not limited to:
-
Copying text, figures, tables, or data without appropriate citation.
-
Paraphrasing substantial content from other sources without credit.
-
Submitting someone else’s manuscript or parts of it under one’s own name.
-
Reusing one’s own previously published work without proper citation (self-plagiarism).
2. Screening Process
All manuscripts submitted to JCTMN undergo a mandatory plagiarism check using reliable plagiarism detection software such as Turnitin or iThenticate before they enter the peer review process. A similarity index of less than 10%(excluding references and quoted material) is acceptable.
3. Handling Detected Plagiarism
-
Minor Plagiarism (e.g., small sections with improper citations): The manuscript will be returned to the authors for revision and proper attribution.
-
Major Plagiarism (e.g., large portions copied without citation, duplicated publications): The manuscript will be rejected immediately. If plagiarism is found after publication, the article may be retracted and a notice of plagiarism will be published.
-
Authors found guilty of repeated or severe plagiarism may be banned from submitting to JCTMN for a defined period.
4. Author Responsibilities
Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submitted work is entirely original and appropriately cites the work of others. By submitting to JCTMN, authors confirm that:
-
The manuscript has not been previously published.
-
The manuscript is not under review elsewhere.
-
All sources are properly acknowledged.
5. Editorial and Reviewer Role
Editors and peer reviewers are encouraged to report suspected plagiarism at any stage of the publication process. All allegations will be investigated thoroughly, and appropriate actions will be taken in accordance with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.
