Guideline for Author

International Journal of Healthcare and Education (IJHE)

We welcome submissions that align with IJHE’s mission to advance research, innovation, and educational excellence in healthcare and health sciences. Authors must follow these guidelines carefully to ensure smooth processing of their manuscripts.


1. Scope and Focus

IJHE publishes original research articles, systematic reviews, scoping reviews, educational innovations, case reports, perspectives, and policy analyses related to:

  • Healthcare education and professional training

  • Medical, nursing, and allied health sciences education

  • Patient safety, leadership, and quality improvement

  • Digital health, simulation-based learning, and educational technologies

  • Public health promotion and interprofessional collaboration

  • Educational policy, curriculum development, and lifelong learning in healthcare


2. Types of Articles Accepted

  • Original Research Articles (4000–6000 words excluding references)

  • Systematic or Scoping Reviews (5000–8000 words)

  • Educational Innovations / Practice Reports (3000–5000 words)

  • Case Reports (up to 3000 words)

  • Commentaries / Perspectives (1500–2500 words)

  • Editorials (by invitation only)

Word counts include the main text but exclude the abstract, tables, figures, and references.


3. General Submission Requirements

  • All submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.

  • Manuscripts must be written in clear English. Authors whose first language is not English are encouraged to have their manuscripts professionally edited.

  • ORCID iDs are required for the corresponding author and encouraged for all co-authors.

  • Authors must disclose any conflicts of interest, funding sources, and ethical approvals where applicable.

  • IJHE screens all submissions for plagiarism using Turnitin or equivalent tools.


4. Manuscript Structure

Title Page

  • Manuscript title (concise, informative)

  • Full names of all authors and affiliations

  • Corresponding author's email address and full contact details

  • ORCID iDs (required for corresponding author)

  • Conflict of interest statement

  • Funding disclosure statement

  • Ethics approval statement (if applicable)

Abstract

  • Structured Abstract (up to 250 words) including:
    Background – Objectives – Methods – Results – Conclusion

  • 3 to 6 keywords listed after the abstract (using MeSH terms when possible)

Main Text

Depending on article type:

  • Original Research Articles:
    Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion

  • Reviews:
    Introduction, Methods (search strategy, inclusion/exclusion criteria), Results, Discussion, Conclusion

  • Educational Innovations / Case Reports:
    Introduction, Case/Program Description, Outcomes, Discussion

References

  • Use APA 7th Edition citation style.

  • References must be formatted consistently and accurately.

  • Provide DOI links where available.

Tables and Figures

  • Tables and figures should be placed after the references or uploaded separately.

  • Each table/figure must be numbered and titled clearly.

  • Figures must be high resolution (minimum 300 dpi).


5. Ethical Considerations

  • For research involving human participants or animals, authors must state that approval was obtained from an appropriate Ethics Review Board and that informed consent was secured.

  • For secondary data analyses, authors must state that ethical clearance was obtained (if necessary) or justify exemption.


6. Formatting Requirements

  • Manuscripts should be submitted as Microsoft Word documents (.doc or .docx).

  • Use double-spacing throughout, 12-point Times New Roman font.

  • Number all pages consecutively.


7. Submission Process

  • Submit manuscripts through our online submission system at: [Insert Submission Link]

  • First-time users must register an account.

  • Authors will be notified of manuscript receipt and will receive a tracking number.

  • Peer review typically takes 6–8 weeks from initial submission.


8. Article Processing Charges (APCs)

Currently, no APCs are charged. IJHE offers free open-access publication for all accepted manuscripts during the inaugural year.


9. Licensing and Copyright

  • Upon acceptance, authors retain copyright.

  • All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), permitting unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction with appropriate citation.


10. Post-Acceptance

  • Accepted manuscripts undergo copyediting, typesetting, and proof review.

  • Authors will receive proofs for final approval before publication.

  • Final articles are published in the next available issue and indexed in databases.


11. Withdrawal Policy

  • Authors may request withdrawal of their manuscript before acceptance with a justified reason.

  • Withdrawal after peer review without strong justification may result in a blacklisting for future submissions.
