1. Commitment to Originality
The International Journal of Adolescent and Pediatric Health (IJAPH) is committed to publishing original scholarly work that contributes meaningfully to the field of adolescent and pediatric health. All submissions must be the authors’ own work and must not have been published elsewhere, in whole or in part.
Plagiarism, in any form, is a serious violation of publication ethics and is strictly prohibited.
2. Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism includes but is not limited to:
-
Verbatim copying of text without quotation marks or citation
-
Paraphrasing substantial parts of another work without attribution
-
Self-plagiarism or redundant publication (reusing one’s own previously published content without disclosure or citation)
-
Improper or missing citation of sources
-
Copying data, images, tables, or code without permission or proper reference
IJAPH follows definitions and recommendations from:
-
COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics)
-
ICMJE (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors)
-

3. Plagiarism Detection Procedures
IJAPH uses Turnitin® and/or iThenticate® to screen all submitted manuscripts before peer review.
Thresholds:
-
Total similarity index must be ≤20%
-
Single-source similarity must be ≤3%
Manuscripts exceeding these thresholds will be returned to the author for revision or rejected outright depending on severity.
4. Consequences of Plagiarism
Depending on the extent and intent, plagiarism will result in one or more of the following actions:
-
Immediate rejection of the manuscript
-
Retraction of published articles
-
Notification to author’s institution
-
Banning of author(s) from future submission to IJAPH
5. Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools
IJAPH maintains a strict policy regarding AI-generated content:
-
Acceptable: Use of AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) for grammar checking, formatting assistance, or language refinement
-
Unacceptable: Use of AI to generate content, literature reviews, or data interpretation
Authors must disclose any AI tool usage in the manuscript’s acknowledgment section.
Failure to disclose or use AI to fabricate or plagiarize content will lead to immediate rejection or retraction and may trigger an institutional ethics investigation.
