ORCID Policy

ORCID Policy

The Journal of Community Health and Nursing (JCHN) supports the use of ORCID iDs (Open Researcher and Contributor Identifiers) to ensure proper attribution, improve author visibility, and maintain transparency in scholarly communication.

1. What is ORCID?

ORCID provides a unique, persistent digital identifier that distinguishes researchers from one another and ensures their work is correctly attributed, even if they share the same name or change affiliations.

2. Policy for Authors

  • Corresponding authors are required to provide their ORCID iD during manuscript submission.

  • Co-authors are strongly encouraged to link their ORCID iDs as well.

  • Authors who do not yet have an ORCID iD can register for free at: https://orcid.org/register

3. How ORCID is Used

  • ORCID iDs are published with the author’s name and affiliation in the final article.

  • The journal uses ORCID to:

    • Ensure accurate author identification

    • Enable easy linking of publications to author profiles

    • Support integrations with indexing services, funders, and repositories

4. ORCID and Editorial Team

All editors and reviewers are also encouraged to maintain active ORCID iDs to promote accountability and traceability in scholarly publishing.

5. Integration with Submission System

JCHN is progressively integrating ORCID into its manuscript submission and publishing workflow, ensuring:

  • Seamless authentication via the ORCID API

  • Automatic updating of the author's ORCID record upon publication (with permission)

6. Benefits of ORCID

  • Disambiguates authorship

  • Tracks publications, grants, and affiliations across platforms

  • Improves visibility and discoverability of academic work
